I think the issue here is you are assuming a lot of people are Democrats and beholden to the party. Most people have no faith in either party. Some have faith in Sanders and probably won't care enough to vote if it's Trump vs. Biden because little will change for them.Joe performs well in swing states. Swing states decide elections. Add that to the fact that the incumbent is going to be running during a recession and the odds for Joe look pretty damn good.
